5 Things You Should Always Tell Your Gynecologist—Even if it’s a Little Embarrassing

If you’re experiencing any unusual symptoms or problems “down there,” do not hesitate to tell your gynecologist. We’ve pretty much seen and heard every women’s health issue you can think of and want you to feel completely comfortable talking about anything that’s bothering you. We listen without judgement.

It’s important to keep in mind that we can’t treat what we don’t know about. So if you’re experiencing the following 5 things—or anything else that’s bothering you–be sure to let your gynecologist know. It may not be anything serious, but it’s still important to have it checked out, and come up with a plan to help relieve uncomfortable symptoms.

  1. Unusual Bleeding
  2. Persistent abdominal pain
  3. A strange odor
  4. Abnormal discharge
  5. Pain during sex

We get that these aren’t the most pleasant topics to talk about, but we encourage you to let us know anything that’s out of the ordinary. The more informed we are, the better we can diagnose and treat what’s happening—and help allay any anxiety and worry you may be feeling.
