Margaret Dufreney, MD, FACOG
Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Dufreney earned her medical degree from Penn State College of Medicine and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital, where she was chief resident. She also holds a certificate in premedical studies from Harvard Extension School and a bachelor’s degree from Boston College, where she graduated cum laude. She specializes in female reproductive health, pregnancy and childbirth with a special interest in preventative care, management of abnormal uterine bleeding, contraception counseling, preconception counseling and prenatal care.
Dr. Dufreney knew she had found her calling as soon as she did her medical school rotation in obstetrics and gynecology.
“With obstetrics and gynecology, you can do a little bit of everything and build life-long relationships with your patients—from taking care of them when they’re 15 to delivering their babies later in life to helping them with menopause.”
When Dr. Dufreney isn’t at work, she loves spending time with her husband and son, traveling to the France, (her husband’s native country), snowboarding and volunteering.
When asked what she would be if she wasn’t a doctor, Dr. Dufreney replied confidently: “That’s easy … a professional hockey player.”
